BILLINGS - The Montana Conservation Voters Organization hosted a "Meet the Candidates" barbecue Thursday evening for the mayoral and City Council race. Everyone running for Billings City Council and all 5 mayoral candidates were invited. Candidates had the chance to make a few comments, while the public and the organization asked questions to gauge their stance on things like recycling and reducing the city's carbon footprint. "It's nice to know some of these candidates are concerned with strategies the city can use to reduce their energy use and improvements the city can make in public transportation," said the group's Executive Director Theresa Keaveny. Ward 1, the City Council seat with the most candidates, had 3 of the 5 show up, Angela Cimmino, Mark Higgins and James Knox. Ward 5 candidate Dennis Ulvestad was also there. Christopher Cook, Tom Hanel, Ray Tracy and Mike Yakowich were the 4 of the 5 mayoral candidates who attended.
