BOISE - A small grass fire burned near the Idaho Shakespeare Festival ampitheater on Warm Springs Avenue - and got dangerously close to several buildings.

It broke out at about 3:30 a.m. in a nearby field. Fire crews say it threatened several buildings in the area, but they were able to douse the flames before it reached the structures.

Tyler Crist called in the fire.

"We didn't know what was going on," he said. "This is all sage brush out here so it could be very dangerous. There was already a good five, ten foot fire out here."

The fire burned about an acre of grass land. Investigators say they are not sure what caused the fire, but have launched an investigation.
