After years of trying, Happy Valley has finally taken the title -- Penn State was named the nations No. 1 party school by the Princeton Review.

Although the school placed on the “Top Party School” list for the last seven years, this was the first time that Penn State was tops.

Known for it’s wild football tailgates as well as its strong Greek life, Penn State (main campus) took the title away from of the University of Florida.

While students will undoubtedly rejoice at the news, some school officials likely won't.

“These rankings are not more than popularity contests. It's a badge of honor at this point. Nationwide, kids want to pump their schools in these surveys. It's not connected to reality," university spokeswoman Annemarie Mountz told the Asbury Park Press.

Penn State also finished on top in the categories of “lots of beer” and students who pack the stadium (which is funny because a lot of the people at the games aren’t actually students).

What remained to be seen was how Penn State police and school officials will handle university life after receiving the dubious honor.

The most likely bet -- not well.

Attempts by NBC Philadelphia to get comment from PSU were unsuccessful.

The rankings are a part of “The Princeton Reviews 371 Best Colleges,” which doesn’t rank academics, but rather “helps students find and get into the best school for them.”

The top ten broke down like this:

1. Penn State University, State College, Pa. 2. University of Florida, Gainesville, Fla. 3. University of Mississippi, University, Miss. 4. University of Georgia, Athens, Ga. 5. Ohio University, Athens, Ohio 6. West Virginia University, Morgantown, W.Va. 7. University of Texas, Austin, Texas 8. University of Wisconsin, Madison, Wis. 9. Florida State University, Tallahassee, Fla. 10. University of California-Santa Barbara, Santa Barbara, Cal.
