Former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher returned home Monday following a two-week stay in hospital after she fell and broke her left arm.
The 83-year-old Thatcher, who suffers from dementia, waved to reporters with her right arm while the other remained hidden in a sling beneath a pink cardigan. She made no comments before being escorted inside.
Thatcher was hospitalized June 12 after falling inside her home. A week later, doctors inserted a pin into the bone of her upper left arm.
Thatcher was the first woman to serve as Britain's prime minister, from 1979 to 1990, and as leader of the Conservative Party.
Deteriorating health
The former prime minister has suffered deteriorating health in recent years, particularly from a series of minor strokes, and rarely speaks in public.
Last year her daughter, Carole, disclosed that the one-time "Iron Lady" now struggled to finish sentences, did not know where she lived and even forgot that her husband, Denis, had died in 2003.
