Madrid hospital officials say a seriously ill woman suffering from swine flu has successfully given birth to a healthy child by Cesarean section.
The 20-year-old woman was diagnosed as having swine flu after she was admitted to the capital's Gergorio Maranon Hospital.
The official says the hospital will release a detailed formal statement on the mother's health later Monday.
Health Minister Trinidad Jimenez on Saturday said that a 32 year-old man at the Juan XXIII hospital in Tarragona was also seriously ill and suffering from swine flu.
The Spanish Health Ministry said Friday that Spain has now confirmed a total of 541 cases of the virus.
