Prosecutors say an eastern Pennsylvania man flicking a lighter to get a cat to come out of hiding from under his mother's bed started a fire that killed her.
Twenty-six-year-old Chad Lever has been charged with involuntary manslaughter in the Feb. 3 death of Lisa House, who suffered from Lou Gehrig's disease and couldn't walk without assistance.
Lehigh County prosecutors said Wednesday that Lever accidentally set the blaze that killed the 47-year-old Slatington woman while she was in bed.
Lever called 911 after trying to put out the flames. An autopsy found his mother died of smoke inhalation.
No phone listing for Lever can be found, and it's unclear if he has an attorney. He's free on $20,000 unsecured bail.
