About 200 mourners packed a Conway church Monday to pay respects to a 23-year-old Army private killed outside an Arkansas recruiting center.
Monday was the day William Long, who had just completed basic training, was supposed to deploy to South Korea.
Pastor John Harrington eulogized Long as a "seeker" who needed to find himself. The clergyman described Long as sharp and gifted.
Long was shot to death June 1 outside the Army-Navy Career Center in west Little Rock, where he had volunteered to tell others about his military experience. Another soldier was wounded in the attack.
