In 15 years of research, National Geographic researcher Tim Samaras had never been so close to a tornado as on a recent outing in which he was able to set up a probe 70 seconds before it was sucked into the 260 mile per hour winds of an F-4 rated storm.As we enter the final stretch of the official tornado season, Samaras joins MSNBC.com in answering your questions about what he’s learned from these violent and dangerous storms. The results of Samaras’ research are the subject of a National Geographic Ultimate Explorer special, “Inside the Tornado.”
