Veteran broadcast anchor Randy Meier has joined MSNBC’s dayside anchor team, it was announced today by Mark Effron, Vice President of Live Programming, MSNBC.

Randy Meier serves as a daytime anchor for MSNBC.

Meier joined MSNBC’s dayside anchor team in August of 2003. Recently, Meier was an anchor for the ABC affiliate KSTP-TV in Minneapolis. Prior to that, he was the host of the Fox weekly series “Beyond Tomorrow” in Los Angeles.

Meier has received numerous awards for broadcast journalism. He received an Emmy Award in 2002 for his work on “Oil Field of Dreams,” an investigative report on the environmental impact of oil drilling in Alaska’s Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. In addition, Meier was also the recipient of two Edward R. Murrow Awards and a Page One Award from the Society of Professional Journalists for “Oil Field of Dreams.” While at KTSP, Meier received three other Emmys, the 2003 National Headliner Award for Best Newscast, and a National Iris Award.

Meier is a graduate from the University of Wisconsin in La Crosse and holds a bachelor’s degree in mass communications.

Meier and his wife, Kami, live in New Jersey with their five daughters.
