A federal jury in Miami on Monday began deliberating the fate of six men charged with plotting to destroy Chicago's Sears Tower and bomb FBI offices around the country.
The 12-person jury got the case after a two-month trial. Two previous trials of the so-called "Liberty City Six" ended in mistrials when juries could not reach unanimous verdicts. One man was acquitted but is being deported to Haiti.
The men were arrested in June 2006 on charges of plotting with al-Qaida to blow up the tallest building in the United States and attack FBI offices in an attempt to topple the U.S. government. Defense attorneys say terrorist talk recorded on FBI tapes was not serious and the men wanted only money.
Each of the six faces 70 years in prison if convicted.
