Trip highlights: You'll be based in Bocognano at a small, family-run inn such as the Hotel Beauséjour. Bocognano is in the center of Corsica, a 115-mile-long island in the Mediterranean that belongs to France. The island also has an Italian feel; it was occupied by Italian troops during World War II and is just north of Sardinia.
From Bocognano, you'll take a train to various parts of the central highlands for five different guided walking tours. Your mileage will depend on group size and ability. Expect stunning views of the Mediterranean, the pink granite rocks of the western coast, small villages, beaches and majestic peaks.
You'll eat breakfasts and dinners — consisting of local specialties like charcuterie, brocciu cheese and game — at the hotel; Hotel Beauséjour has a spacious dining room with 1930s decor.
