Congratulations to Landrie Daniels of Houston. Her photo, showing the jet stream of a plane that just flew over the Torre del Mangia bell tower in Siena, Italy, generated the most votes in this week’s It’s A Snap travel photo contest.

Daniels captured the image in the summer of 2006 when she was studying abroad in Florence. She and a group of friends decided to take a weekend trip to Siena.

Daniels snapped her photo while waiting to climb the bell tower. Shortly after, her group heard the sound of drums and a “parade-type atmosphere.” They gave up their place in line to see what the hubbub was about, and they witnessed the drawing for the annual Palio di Siena horse race.

Eventually, Daniels and her friends did climb the bell tower. “I got great pictures of the town,” she said.

Daniels was in Florence for a short six-week summer course on art history and architecture.

Her classroom had original frescoes on the ceiling by Michaelangelo, and was situated across the street from where the famed artist is buried.

“It was a great six weeks,” she said.
