Police in Australia say DNA testing will be done on remains found in a swamp where an 11-year-old girl was snatched by a crocodile.
The girl vanished Sunday while swimming with three children in a swamp on the outskirts of the northern city of Darwin. Northern Territory Police Superintendent Michael Murphy says the remains were found today.
A police statement says the find "strongly indicates she has died from a crocodile attack."
Murphy declined to give details on the remains, which were found in water 500 yards from where the girl was last seen.
If confirmed, it would be the second fatal crocodile attack in northern Australia in five weeks.
A 5-year-old boy vanished from a river edge in northeastern Australia on Feb. 8. Officials later confirmed an attack when his remains were found in the stomach of a 14-foot crocodile.
