A protest was held at Adelup this morning as Tiyan landowners are upset about Governor Felix Camacho's decision to appoint his assistant legal counsel Ray Haddock as the acting administrator at the Ancestral Lands Commission. Director Ed Benavente is currently out on medical leave, which prompted the chief executive to appoint Haddock.
But members of the Tiyan Land Exchange Task Force say the appointment raises a serious issue of a conflict of interest. They maintain Haddock's relationship with the Torres family raises a conflict, as that family - his in-laws - sold land from which the Ancestral Lands Commission maintains they are entitled to the profits.
