A 4.5-magnitude earthquake shook the Seattle area early Friday morning, the U.S. Geological Survey reported, waking a lot of people up but causing no immediate reports of damage.
The epicenter of the quake was 14 miles northwest of Seattle and 3 miles north of Kingston, Washington, at a depth of 36.2 miles, the USGS said. The quake occurred at 5:25 a.m. local time Friday.
The shaking woke up people like Robert Lyden on Anderson Island in Puget Sound, NBC affiliate KING5-Seattle reported. He told KING5 that it felt like something had hit his roof and that a water fountain was knocked off his deck.
A quake of that magnitude is capable of moderate damage, but there were no immediate reports of injury or damage. There was no tsunami warning issued.
