Six Russian tourists died when their bus flipped over late Monday night along the winding mountain roads north of the Egyptian Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheik, a medical official said.
Chief of Emergency Services for southern Sinai Peninsula, Ibrahim Ali said another 15 tourists of various nationalities were wounded. The bus was 10 miles (15 kilometers) south of the resort town of Dahab on its way from Sharm el-Sheik when it crashed.
Five of the dead were women.
The rugged Sinai coast along the Red Sea is dotted with resorts and is a popular vacation destination for tourists from all over the world.
The accident comes just a week after 26 Russian tour guides died when their bus tumbled into a ravine in Israel, to the north.
Egypt has a history of serious bus and car crashes because of speeding, careless driving and poor road conditions. At least 8,000 people were killed in accidents in 2006, the most recent statistics available.
