An 8-year-old Arizona boy charged in the deaths of his father and another man was set to undergo a mental health and competency evaluation in Phoenix on Monday.
An expert for the defense already has conducted an evaluation of the boy. Judge Michael Roca has put a hold on the case until the evaluations are finished.
The evaluation had been scheduled last week, but bad weather forced it to be moved.
A status conference in the case was also set for Monday in St. Johns.
The boy faces two counts of premeditated murder in the deaths of his father, 29-year-old Vincent Romero, and 39-year-old Tim Romans, who was renting a room in the family's home.
Police say the boy used a .22-caliber rifle to carry out the shootings on Nov. 5 in St. Johns as the men arrived home from work.
