Myisha Ferrell had pleaded guilty to obstructing justice in the 2007 death of Jesse Davis. Ferrell was a key witness against Canton police officer Bobby Cutts Jr., who was convicted in February of killing Davis.

Ferrell, 31, served about 18 months in jail and prison and had about seven months remaining on her sentence.

On Monday, Stark County Common Pleas Judge Charles E. Brown granted a defense request for early release. He placed Ferrell on probation for three years.

The judge prohibited Ferrell from contacting Cutts, his family or the victim's family.

Ferrell testified that she lied to investigators for Cutts, who is serving life in prison. Davis was nine months pregnant with Cutts' child.

Ferrell's only wish for Christmas was her freedom, her attorney, John Alexander, told the Beacon Journal.

''I'm glad to see she's out and that she's going to be home for Christmas with her daughter,'' Alexander said.
