Deutsche Lufthansa AG is raising its fuel surcharge on domestic and European flights, reflecting higher oil prices, the airline said Monday.
Company spokesman Thomas Jachnow said that passengers on flights within Germany and to European destinations would pay $26.21 per flight starting March 13, an increase from the current $21.58.
He said the company was leaving its fuel surcharge unchanged at $118.71 per flight for its intercontinental routes.
The company is not alone in feeling the pinch from soaring jet fuel prices. On Friday, United Airlines increased its domestic fuel surcharge by $6 to $10 per round trip. In January, Air France-KLM raised its fuel surcharge by as much as $12.33 on long-haul flights because of higher oil prices. The fee on domestic flights rose by $1.54.
