A low-fare airline that advertises $10 tickets will create 375 jobs over the next two years as it opens a hub at Piedmont-Triad International airport.

Skybus Airlines Inc. plans to invest $350 million in the project, most of which will be spent on new airplanes. Company officials say the airport will be Skybus' second hub and the new jobs will mostly be for pilots and flight attendants.

Skybus plans to offer 11 flights a day from the Piedmont-Triad airport, including routes to Boston and two cities in Florida. The airline — based in Columbus, Ohio — offers at least 10 seats on every flight for $10, not including fees and taxes.

Gov. Mike Easley's office says the airline will receive a job development grant worth up to $4 million if the new jobs are sustained for nine years.
