CORPUS CHRISTI - TxDOT now reports that there are six bridges in Nueces County that have labeled as structurally deficient. Thursday, the local transportation officials said there was only one structurally deficient bridge in Nueces County.
TxDOT spokesperson Cliff Bost said he received inaccurate information Thursday. He said the Nueces Bay Causeway was the only structurally deficient bridge in Nueces County. After looking at a report, Bost learned that there are actually five more structurally deficient bridges in Nueces County.
Four bridges are maintained by TxDOT and one is maintained by the city, county or drainage district. Bost said he can't say where those bridges are located because the Attorney General's office has ruled that the information cannot be released for homeland security reasons.
Yesterday, TxDOT told us bridges rated under fifty, on a scale of one to a hundred were considered "structurally deficient", but now they say they were wrong.
