PennDOT hopes to reopen Interstate 95 by 4 p.m. after an overturned tanker closed it.

Traffic is clogged on southbound Interstate 95 in Delaware County after a tractor-trailer hauling fuel overturned around 11:15 a.m. Thursday. All southbound lanes were closed between Route 322 and Chichester Avenue. The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation hopes to have the road open by 4 p.m.

A section of Route 452 beneath Interstate 95 is also closed.

The freightliner's driver Robert Kennard, of Bear, Del., was not injured in the crash.

Police said Kennard swerved to avoid another vehicle while on the 95 onramp from Route 452.

The tanker was carrying 7,500 gallons of home heating oil.

Crews were working to clean up the spill and clear the road, but motorists should expect delays.
