Toronto police are seeking a man thought to be in his late 20s in connection with the murder of a high-profile millionaire philanthropist who was known for giving money to a number of environmental causes, an official said on Tuesday.
Glen Davis, 66, was shot dead in an underground parking garage in Toronto last Friday. In 2005, he was attacked by a man wielding a baseball bat, but police said it was too early to say whether the assaults were linked.
Police Detective Wayne Fowler said the suspect had been captured on security cameras. The man had been “loitering underground for a considerable period of time,” he added.
“We are investigating numerous avenues for a possible motive. ... We have a lot of follow-up to do in this investigation into the background, businesses and associates of Mr. Davis,” he said at a news conference in Toronto.
Davis, who inherited a fortune from his businessman father, survived the 1983 crash of an Air Canada plane in Cincinnati that killed 23 people.
