COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho - A Coeur d'Alene woman is asking city leaders to ban pit bulls after some dogs attacked and killed her cat.
Cari Elmore says she fears the dogs will kill a child next. She says her cat weighed about 21 pounds but that didn't stop the dogs from jumping into her fenced yard and dragging the cat away. She found her cat's body in a neighbor's yard the next day.
Elmore is collecting signatures for a petition to rid the city of what she believes is a vicious breed. She hopes to name the measure Thomas' Law after her cat.
But some dog lovers say it's not the breed that's a problem, it's irresponsible pet owners.
