Today was the sixth day of the Thomas Porter murder trial. Prosecutors are nearing the end of their case.

Porter is facing the death penalty for allegedly shooting and killing Norfolk Police Officer Stanley Reaves on October 28th, 2005. The officer was responding to a call about a man with a gun when he was shot three times in the head.

Today, jurors heard some incriminating testimony from one of Porter's close friends. Porter allegedly wrote three letters to his friend, shortly after his arrest in New York.

In one letter, he wrote, "I robbed some "n-word" out Park Place. I was getting ready to dip out, but that cop came and I shot him. I thought I had a warrant out me. After you read, flush this s***."

6 eyewitnesses have already testified to seeing Porter shoot Reaves. The murder weapon was also found with Porter when he was arrested.

Testimony will continue tomorrow.
