Two missing Nevada County boys were found safe Wednesday morning after spending a night outdoors, sheriff's officials said. Andrew Fagan, 9, and Colton Salivar, 10, were reported missing at about 6 p.m. Tuesday after they failed to return home from Alta Sierra Elementary School.
Deputies and the California Highway Patrol centered their search in the area around Alta Sierra, located near Grass Valley.
Authorities said the boys were found at about 8:30 a.m. Wednesday not far from the home of one of the boys.
The sheriff's department said the boys opted not to go home after one of them had an argument with his family.
The boys hid in some bushes and kept an eye out for searchers. They also had a portable video game with with them, officials said.
The boys got cold and wet and eventually approached a CHP searcher on Wednesday.
The sheriff's department said expenditure on the search was small and that the boys' families will not likely have to pay for police time used.
