ASSOCIATED PRESS OKLAHOMA CITY -- Governor Henry says the Federal Emergency Mangement Agency has approved his major disaster declaration request for seven Oklahoma counties hit hard by winter ice storms in December and January.Henry says major disasters were declared for Delaware, McIntosh, Muskogee and Pittsburg counties in eastern Oklahoma and for Cimarron, Beaver and Texas counties in the Panhandle. The designation qualifies the areas for public assistance ONLY and does not include assistance to individuals whose homes and businesses were damaged. Henry also says FEMA has taken no action on his request for major disaster declarations in 19 other counties in eastern and southeastern Oklahoma hit hard by the ice storms.
