A bus fell down a ravine in southern Mexico Wednesday, killing at least 20 people and injuring 26, local government officials said.

The bus, carrying more than the 40 passengers it was built for, was on its way to Mexico City from the town of Huautla de Jimenez in Oaxaca state when the driver lost control and it careened off the road, said local transport chief Ruben Castillo.

A second official said the death count could rise to 25.

It was the second serious bus crash this month in the largely indigenous state of Oaxaca.
