Opera Software ASA on Thursday announced that it has signed a contract with South Korea’s Samsung Electronics Co. to provide Internet browsers for its advance mobile telephones.

The Opera Mobile browser is a standards compliant Web browser for advanced mobile phones.

The browser reformats Web pages for viewing on a small screen, and allows vertical scrolling.

Since the licensing deal is per phone sold, there was no estimate of the contract's total value.

Oslo-based Opera's browser has won praise as being fast and compact, and has been gaining ground in mobile phones and handheld computers.
