A United Airlines plane with 115 people onboard was forced to return to Los Angeles International Airport on Thursday after a warning light wrongly indicated a fire in the wheel well, an airport spokeswoman said.

The Boeing 737, bound for Portland, Ore., was forced to loop back and landed without incident about a half-hour after its 1:43 p.m. takeoff. There was no fire, spokeswoman Nancy Castles said.

“The plane took off, then the sensor reading came on and the pilot returned,” Castles said.
