Recent polls have Republican Dick Mountjoy trailing Senator Dianne Feinstein by 28-points in California's Senate race, so Mountjoy is asking supporters to pray for him.
Feinstein is seeking her third full term and consistently rates among California's most popular politicians. A Field Poll earlier this month had the former San Francisco mayor leading the race 57 percent to 29, among likely voters.
Today, Mountjoy e-mailed a "campaign prayer request" to his supporters. The former state lawmaker has little money and scant support from his own party. But in his e-mail, Mountjoy says "prayer is the most powerful and effective weapon there is."
A Feinstein spokesman said, "everybody runs their campaign in their own way."
