A van crashed into a group of children waiting for their school bus Friday morning, injuring at least 10, six of them seriously, authorities said.

The children, ages 10 to 14, were at a sidewalk bus stop near an apartment building when the van driver apparently lost control and ran into the group, Montgomery County Fire and Rescue spokesman Pete Piringer said.

None of their injuries was considered life-threatening.

The children are students at White Oak Middle School, said Brian Edwards, a spokesman for Montgomery County Public Schools. The school system sent counselors to the hospitals and to the school Friday morning, he said.

Montgomery County police were investigating the cause of the crash.
