The last of the tens of thousands of Queens residents and businesses affected by a dayslong power outage had their electricity restored Wednesday morning, according to a spokeswoman for Consolidated Edison.
While residents may still experience low voltage conditions or occasional outages, power has been restored to the thousands who lost their electricity during the blackout, spokeswoman Joy Faber said.
At the height of the outage, which lasted for 10 days, about 100,000 people went without lights, air conditioning and refrigeration.
As residents sweltered on some of the hottest days of the year and estimated business losses grew to the millions of dollars, state and local politicians accused Con Ed of neglecting its duties, while utility officials maintained that they were wholly focused on restoring the power.
