If you're one of the many people who have McAfee antivirus software on your office computer, you'll want to install an updated version now.
In fact, it might have been needed months ago, but McAfee didn't say so until now.
The company is apologizing after it emerged that engineers knew about flaws with its "e-Policy Orchestrator." That's used to manage security software on tens of thousands of computers in large companies and government agencies. The flaw lets a hacker seize control of a computer and steal data or delete files.
McAfee released a software update in February but pitched it as an enhancement, not a critical fix. Since many companies won't update software unless necessary, the concern is that computers were left vulnerable. The company says it has no reports of any victims.
McAfee says the consumer version of its antivirus is not affected.
