A former sixth-grade teacher described herself as a “monster” as she was sentenced Wednesday to up to 20 years in prison for sexually assaulting students.

Toni Lynn Woods received consecutive one- to five-year sentences on four counts of third-degree sexual assault, and a concurrent one-year sentence for contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

“I was the monster these families think I am,” said Woods, 37. She pleaded guilty in December.

She was arrested after several juveniles told police they had sexual encounters with her last year. The criminal complaint did not indicate their ages or genders. It said they were students but did not specify their school.
