Charlotte, N.C., serves as headquarters for two of the biggest U.S. banks, Bank of America and Wachovia. It's also been chosen as the home of the new NASCAR hall of fame.

But so far, home prices in the Charlotte area have been moderate, believe it or not.

An example of this is a 8,600-square-foot home is situated on almost an acre of land, in a pristine country club community just a half hour from downtown Charlotte. It seems like a hot property, but the price tag just got slashed — by a half a million bucks — to $1.25 million.

"This house has a lot of amenities, with all the value in this home, sellers see it too," says Realtor Cindy Barnes. In one of the home’s six bedrooms, the master suite has a tray ceiling and boasts a bathroom with views to the sky. The other bedrooms also have their own baths, and aren't short on style.

Barnes also points out the plantation shutters. "People love [them], especially in the South with our hot summers," she says. "It's easy to shut them and they're also pretty and lots of people don’t use curtains over them."

The home also has a formal living room, with cathedral ceilings, a fireplace, and custom-built wet bar. It also has a formal dining room decked out with a crystal chandelier.

It also has casual counterparts on the other side of the home: A sunroom, a loft office space, and the kitchen, which was recently renovated.

Downstairs is the fun zone: A game room, a playroom for the kids, a personal gym, and a steam sauna. There’s also home theater, equipped with everything from velvet curtains to deep leather chairs with built-in cup holders. And let’s not forget the pool, which has views to the golf course.

And if you've got guests, you're in luck. There is even a self contained apartment downstairs.

Now all this house needs is a buyer.
