Family Tries to Thaw Pipes, House Catches Fire

As Wayne DeLong stares at his home he's at a loss for words. The cold temperatures caused some of his pipes to freeze and this morning he had warm air blowing on them to thaw them out and that's when he said he noticed something wasn't quite right.

"When I stepped outside with my cup of coffee this morning to walk around the house, I noticed some smoke and flames in the corner of the house and then I ran in and got everyone out," he said.

DeLong and his family lost everything they own, except for the clothes they were wearing.

"We just have, basically, our personal things, our clothing, you know personal items," he said.

The Red Cross is helping the family to get back on their feet.

"They're going to give us some lodging for probably up to three days and get some clothes vouchers and food and something we need for the kids," he said.
