Stores across the U.S. are recalling sunflower seeds because they may be contaminated with Listeria, the Food and Drug Administration said Thursday.
A Minnesota supplier, SunOpta, said it had recalled sunflower seeds because a spot check indicated some of the seeds could be contaminated with Listeria, a common cause of food poisoning. No one’s been reported sick.
They include snacks and salad toppers sold by the Kroger in 28 states as well as the Pittsburgh-based Giant Eagle chain, and some Planter’s brand products. The FDA has a full list of products and labels on its website.
There’s also currently a recall of frozen vegetables contaminated with Listeria. The FDA says eight people have been sickened in an outbreak linked to the products.
