The Food and Drug Administration says Johnson & Johnson is selling a hip implant for unapproved uses and marketing an unapproved, high-tech system to guide doctors in implanting knee replacements.
The FDA warning is announced a day after J&J's ninth product recall in a year. They've involved foul-smelling drug packages, contamination with tiny metal shards or bacteria, and drugs that might have the wrong amount of active ingredient.
J&J's DePuy Orthopaedics says it's reviewing FDA's warning letter and will supply requested information.
