Procter & Gamble Co. is recalling about 700,000 packages of Vicks Dayquil Cold & Flu 24-Count Bonus Pack Liquicaps.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission said Friday the cold and flu medicine contains acetaminophen, but the products are not in child-resistant packaging and they lack a required statement that warns the products are for households without young children.
The medicine could cause serious health problems or a child's death if several of the capsules are swallowed. No incidents or injuries have been reported.
The recall involves a certain UPC code. The medicine was made in Canada and sold in drug stores, grocery stores and other retailers nationwide between September 2008 and this month. For more information, consumers can call 800-251-3374.
