Emma Gonzalez, 19, is one of the most visible student activists to emerge from February's mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, which left 17 people dead.
Gonzalez drew national attention after delivering an impassioned speech at the March for Our Lives rally against gun violence on March 24.
Gonzalez, who identifies as bisexual, was the president of her school’s Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA) and has publicly acknowledged how being LGBTQ helped her in becoming an outspoken activist against gun violence.
