UPDATE (January 18th, 2015):
Officials with the Fulton County Sheriff's Department have confirmed that Derick Higgins, missing since March 21st, 2013, has been found alive in San Diego, California.
According to a press release sent out Sunday, officers with the San Diego Harbor Police Department made contact with Derick on January 17th. Officers said Derick confirmed his identify and is now at a nearby hospital.
Derick's family is on the way to see him, according to the Facebook page ''Hurry Higgins and Hurdle Home'.
Derick was last seen on March 21st, 2013 at a bank in Canton, IL not far from his home in Smithfield. Three days later, his car was found abandoned outside Tallahassee, FL. His wallet and ID were inside.
Most recently, police in Las Vegas made contact with a man using a fake name whose finger prints matched those of Derick in both April and July of 2014.
UPDATE (November 14th, 2014):
Las Vegas Police made contact with missing person Derick Higgins earlier this year, but he had given them a false name.
According to a press release linked to the Facebook page “Hurry Higgins & Hurdle Home”, Las Vegas Police fingerprinted Derick in both April and July of 2014 after taking him in for a city ordinance violation, but he gave officers a different name. It took several months for police to identify those fingerprints and provide a match to Derick.
The Higgins family is currently in Las Vegas searching for Derick, and say they just want to make sure he is safe.

Derick is described as approximately 6’ tall, weighing 160 lbs with brown hair and blue eyes.
