UPDATE 2:30 pm EST: Cory has been located safely, according to the Broomfield Police Department.
It's been nearly three days since Marine veteran and Purple Heart recipient Cory Hixson was last seen, and police are calling for the public's help in finding him.
Cory, who was injured and lost his eye while serving in Iraq, was last seen around 9:30 p.m. this past Saturday, March 11, according to police.
The specific circumstances surrounding that evening haven't been released, but authorities have said they are extremely concerned, as Cory suffers memory loss as a result of a traumatic brain injury. He does not drive, and a spokesperson for the Broomfield Police Department told Dateline he sometimes has trouble navigating between locations.
From the comments on the Broomfield Police Department's posting about Cory, it's evident he is extremely loved. The photo of the husband and father of two has been shared nearly 3,300 times on that posting alone. One comment reads in part, “this world is a better place because of the things he has done. Prayers for a safe return.”
Cory Hixon is described as 5'9" tall, weighing 150 lbs. with a shaved head. He has one hazel eye and a prosthetic left eye, which he was not wearing at the time. He was last seen wearing a blue shirt, jeans and a dark-colored Denver Broncos baseball cap.
