The body of Esau "Abe" Brenes was discovered late Saturday evening on the outskirts of Siler City, North Carolina.
Law enforcement officials have not released any more information regarding Brene's death, only that his body was found along Snow Camp Road. The Siler City Police Department, the Chatham County Sheriff's Office, and the SBI are all involved in the investigation and officials say the case is ongoing.
The 25-year-old's stepfather told Dateline NBC last week that Brenes was a, "nice, caring kid." The family released a statement on the 'Find Esau Abraham Brenes' Facebook page asking for prayers for the family.
"Now we just ask that you continue praying for our family as we search for answers and come to terms with what's happened. The road ahead is not going to be an easy one to travel but we know that God will be with us every step of the way."
Brenes disappeared after family members say he drove a high school acquaintance and two strangers home the morning on Sunday, October 4th in his green Mini Cooper with North Carolina license plate ZRA-5881. The details of the morning remain unclear and Brenes's vehicle remains missing.
