Authorities in San Bernardino, California are searching for a woman who they consider a person-of-interest in her boyfriend’s killing.
Nakasia James, 18, remains on the run Tuesday evening. Officers say they responded to a call around 2:30 a.m. Monday about a man possibly being stabbed during a domestic dispute. The victim, Dorian Powell, 21, was found deceased inside the apartment.
Later that day, a person with the same name as Nakasia James posted several status updates on Facebook, some with apparent confessions to the murder.
“Just goin tell ya nw be4 I get caught," one of the posts stated. "We was really fightn and I gt the knife and stabbed him ddnt think I would hurt him BT I did he died and I'm on the run."
The posts have since been deleted.
Officials with the San Bernardino Police Department say the Facebook postings are not the only lead prompting them to want to talk to James, who they believe was Powell's girlfriend.
“The Facebook postings are definitely a factor, but we have to be cognizant of the fact that anyone can post if they are on the account,” Lt. Richard Lawhead told Dateline. “There is other evidence that we have that indicates she is involved.”
Authorities believe James may have returned to the apartment around noon the following day, but when officers arrived, she was not present. Lt. Lawhead also said around 5:00 p.m. Monday, there was a report of several shots being fired inside the same apartment, but it is unclear if the two incidents are related.
