The search for Dan Davis has come to an end. Three months after his disappearance, the missing father’s remains were found on the border of Alsip and Blue Island, Illinois, on March 9, 2026.
Dateline covered Dan’s story in January 2026 in our ‘Missing In America’ digital series. The 59-year-old was last seen by eyewitnesses at 1:15 a.m. on November 25, 2025, leaving 115 Bourbon Street, the entertainment complex in Merrionette Park, Illinois, where he worked. Throughout November 25 and 26, Dan appeared on home security video in the city of Blue Island, a suburb of Chicago. According to Dan’s family, he appeared disoriented and confused, possibly exhibiting subtle stroke symptoms.
Dan was last seen on video exiting a church in Blue Island at 6:30 p.m. on November 26. The search was extensive in the Blue Island area, taking place in abandoned homes, wooded areas, and bodies of water.
“We’re stumped in the sense of how he just vanished,” Wendy Davis, Dan’s daughter, told Dateline in January. Throughout the search, Wendy made several videos on TikTok, circulating her father’s missing poster, sharing photos and videos of Dan, and even organizing a “Find Dan Davis Day” that took place on February 21 and 22.
Wendy frequently shared her thoughts about missing her father and searching for him, offering an intimate perspective on what it looks like to search for a missing loved one. She amassed more than 120,000 followers and millions of views; the comment section was flooded with people offering support and sharing how they’ve contributed to the search for her dad. She also shared an update on TikTok after his remains were found.
Authorities have not released the specific location of Dan’s remains or any further information regarding the cause of death. The investigation remains ongoing, according to a statement shared with Dateline by Blue Island City Administrator Thomas Wogan via email. “The City extends its sincere condolences to Mr. Davis’ family and loved ones during this difficult period,” he wrote.
“It’s an eerie feeling — thank god this terrible chapter of constant unknown is finally over,” Wendy wrote in a post on Facebook. “But now starts a new terrible chapter without my smarter, goofier, and relentlessly selfless other half. This is the news we’ve all been expecting in a way, but nothing really prepares you for it. I’ve never laughed harder with anybody than I have with my dad. And I can’t wait to do it again someday,” she wrote.
“I don’t have many words right now besides thank you,” she continued in the Facebook post. “The virality of dad’s case is something none of us expected. The support from millions of people across the whole world carried our spirits high throughout these last few months. Without you, we would be nowhere.”
The City of Blue Island requests that anyone with information about Dan’s disappearance contact the Blue Island Police Department at 708-385-1313.
