On a November day just before Thanksgiving in 2018, a concerned Colts Neck, New Jersey, resident called 911. Her neighbor’s home was on fire, dark smoke billowing from the house.
Then another 911 call came in. A different neighbor had also spotted the fire, but he had another concern: there was a body in the yard.
Emergency responders rushed to the scene and found devastation.
On the lawn, homeowner Keith Caneiro had been shot dead.
Inside the burning home, his wife, Jennifer, and their children, Jesse and Sophia, were also dead. But it wasn’t just the fire that killed them.
An entire family wiped out in a brutal act of violence.
And about 10 miles away, another home had caught fire hours earlier. And the two homeowners shared the same last name.
Keith’s older brother Paul and his family had made it out of their home alive.
To investigators, it seemed someone had their sights set on the entire Caneiro family…but who?
