RNC Invokes 'My Little Pony' to Defend Melania Trump Speech

The fallout from Melania Trump's allegedly plagiarized lines in her RNC convention speech Monday has entered a new phase -- which apparently involves the children's entertainment franchise "My Little Pony."

RNC spokesman Sean Spicer alleged Tuesday that Mrs. Trump's phrases about dreams and hard work were hardly unique to Michelle Obama's 2008 convention speech, invoking the animated series known for its pastel-colored unicorns and gentle instruction that "Friendship is Magic"

"Melania Trump said, "the strength of your dreams and the willingness to work for them,'" Spicer said. "Twilight Sparkle from My Little Pony said, "This is your dream. Anything you can do in your dreams you can do now." (Cross talk) Look, a simple Google search of three phrases comes up with everything from sparkle pony to John Legend to Akon to Notorious BIG."
