Sen. Burr Makes Up His Mind, Will Continue Supporting Trump Amid Tight Reelection
Richard Burr has made up his mind.
The North Carolina U.S. senator, who is in the midst of a tight reelection race, said on Monday that he will continue to support Donald Trump because "the right thing to do is to forgive."
"My dad was a Presbyterian minister and he always taught me that when somebody apologizes, that the right thing to do is to forgive them," Burr said. "And if we don't allow somebody to be forgiven, who's gonna forgive us?"
On Sunday, the senator said on CBS News that he is "going to watch his level of contrition over the next few days to determine my level of support."
Burr first reacted to Trump's lewd comments leaked in a 2005 video on Friday, calling them "inappropriate and completely unacceptable."
