Newly-Launched Sanders Group Loses Another Staffer
Our Revolution, the non-profit organization Bernie Sanders launched last week to support like-minded candidates, has lost another staffer in connection to the mass resignation that came just before the group’s kickoff.
Hector Sigala, who was the Sanders campaign’s social media director, had similar concerns to the others who left, but stayed on to help with Our Revolution’s livestreamed launch event Wednesday night. He left shortly thereafter, several sources familiar with the group told NBC News.
Eight of the Our Revolution’s staffers had resigned in protest last weekend after Sanders campaign manager Jeff Weaver was brought in to run the group. The staffers, some of who were promised Weaver would not be involved with the group, found him domineering and objected to his vision for the group.
Our Revolution is also preparing a new board, chaired by Larry Cohen, the former president of the Communications Workers of America union.
Former staffers had objected to the initial board’s white, male and Vermont-centric composition. Sanders promised “a new, very diverse board of strong progressive men and women from across the country,” in his remarks Wednesday.
